Half way (330km) to The Netherlands and (329km) half way to Austria is where we were on the Rhine River. Here in Germany they call it Rhein. We Joined a USO tour to a city called Rudeshiem- took a walking tour of the main square of that town -it was 9 degrees out, bitterly cold, making the tour very short, one hour, we ended up in a Restuarant with a glass of Gluwein which is a hot wine with spices put in it. I tried a sip -very bitter everyone was putting sugar in it saying it was good then, I do not like wine, so mine was just used to warm my hands.. The pictures above are of a street that has been around for hundreds of years, before people would go up the the River to dangerous place they would stop here and have meal and a drink, talking with people who know what lies ahead on the river. The street got the name as Chatter box because people would make a constant buzz on the road chattering.

I'm not sure what happened but I already posted and now its gone! I said that place looks picturesque and fun. Did you enjoy yourself?
ReplyDeleteyes it was so short and cold - this place would be so amazing in summer-when prices double.lol. anyways we may go back but not stay at our fancy hotel. there is a gondola ride that you can take up into hills where there is a special statue at the litteral heart of Germany..with a hike down the hill and a boat ride back . sounds fun. we will see if we fit it in.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, to see all this! I am so happy for you. And a box from JoAnn's! That looks like fun too. I got a laugh on the gnome. Hee Hee Mom
